Your evaluation starts with a detailed discussion about your symptoms, when they started, and how they’re affecting your life. We need to understand your experience before we begin any testing.
During the nerve conduction study, we place small electrodes on your skin and send mild electrical impulses to measure how fast and strong your nerve signals are. For the EMG portion, a thin needle electrode is inserted into specific muscles to record their electrical activity. Most patients find the testing much more tolerable than they expected.
The entire process typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on which nerves and muscles we need to evaluate. You’ll receive your results the same day, along with a clear explanation of what we found and what it means for your treatment options.
