The process is straightforward. During your nerve conduction study, we place small electrodes on your skin and send mild electrical impulses to measure how well your nerves transmit signals. It feels like a brief, mild shock.
For the EMG portion, we use a thin needle electrode to measure the electrical activity in your muscles. This helps us see how well your muscles and the nerves controlling them are working together.
The entire testing session typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on which nerves and muscles we need to evaluate. You’ll get your results immediately, and we’ll explain exactly what they mean for your condition and treatment options.
