Advanced EMG and nerve conduction studies that pinpoint exactly what’s causing your numbness, tingling, or weakness.

You’ve been dealing with unexplained symptoms for months. Numbness that comes and goes. Tingling that keeps you awake. Muscle weakness that makes simple tasks frustrating.
The uncertainty might be worse than the symptoms themselves. You need answers, not more guesswork.
Our nerve and muscle diagnostic testing gives you those answers. Through precise electromyography and nerve conduction studies, we identify exactly which nerves or muscles aren’t functioning properly. No more wondering if it’s carpal tunnel, a pinched nerve, or something else entirely.
When you know what’s wrong, you can finally move forward with the right treatment. Most patients leave our office with a clear understanding of their condition and a plan to address it.
We’ve been serving the Staten Island community for years, specializing in comprehensive neuromuscular diagnostics. Our team focuses specifically on nerve and muscle disorders, which means we see these conditions every day.
We’ve performed thousands of EMG and nerve conduction studies. We know what normal looks like, and we know how to spot the subtle abnormalities that other providers might miss.
Our Fort Wadsworth location uses the latest diagnostic equipment, but more importantly, we take time to explain your results in plain English. You shouldn’t need a medical degree to understand what’s happening in your own body.
Your nerve and muscle evaluation starts with a detailed discussion of your symptoms. We need to understand exactly what you’re experiencing and when it happens.
The actual testing involves two parts. The nerve conduction study measures how well electrical signals travel through your nerves. We place small electrodes on your skin and deliver mild electrical pulses. Most people describe it as a quick tapping sensation.
The electromyography portion examines your muscle function. A thin needle electrode records the electrical activity in your muscles both at rest and when you contract them. While this sounds uncomfortable, the needles are very fine and most patients tolerate it well.
The entire process typically takes 30-45 minutes. We discuss your results immediately after testing, explaining what we found and what it means for your treatment options.
Ready to get started?
Your comprehensive nerve and muscle evaluation covers all the areas related to your symptoms. We don’t just test one nerve and call it done.
For nerve conduction studies, we examine multiple nerve pathways to get a complete picture. This helps us distinguish between conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, or more widespread peripheral neuropathy.
The muscle testing component evaluates how well your muscles respond to nerve signals. This is crucial for diagnosing conditions that affect the connection between your nerves and muscles.
You receive a detailed report of all findings, plus our recommendations for next steps. If treatment is needed, we coordinate with your referring physician or provide appropriate referrals to specialists who can help address your specific condition.
