Professional electromyography testing to diagnose nerve and muscle disorders affecting your daily life.
Reviews
You’ve been dealing with numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness for weeks or months. Your primary care doctor suspects a nerve issue but needs more information. That’s where EMG testing comes in.
Electromyography testing gives you concrete answers about what’s happening with your nerves and muscles. No more guessing. No more wondering if the pain will get worse. You’ll walk out knowing exactly what you’re dealing with and what your next steps should be.
The test measures electrical activity in your muscles and how well your nerves are conducting signals. When something’s not working right, we can pinpoint exactly where the problem is. This means your doctor can create a treatment plan that actually addresses your specific condition instead of taking a general approach that might not work.
NY Spine Medicine has been serving patients throughout Queens and the greater New York area with specialized diagnostic testing. Our team consists of board-certified physicians who understand that getting accurate results the first time saves you time, money, and unnecessary worry.
Located in Arverne, we focus specifically on spine and nerve-related conditions. This isn’t a general practice trying to do everything. We see patients with your exact symptoms every day, which means we know what to look for and how to interpret your results accurately.
Our facility uses modern diagnostic equipment and maintains the highest standards for patient care and safety.
The EMG test has two parts: nerve conduction study and electromyography. During the nerve conduction study, small electrodes are placed on your skin to measure how fast electrical signals travel through your nerves. You’ll feel a brief, mild electrical pulse, but it’s not painful.
For the electromyography portion, a thin needle electrode is inserted into specific muscles to measure electrical activity. The needle is very thin, similar to acupuncture needles. You might feel slight discomfort, but most patients tolerate it well.
The entire process typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on which nerves and muscles need testing. You’ll receive your results immediately after the test, along with a clear explanation of what they mean. A detailed report is also sent to your referring physician so they can develop your treatment plan.
